Not a Fan of Glasses?
Glasses are a great form of vision correction, but they aren’t for everyone. Contacts can provide a more comfortable feel than glasses while offering benefits such as:
- More natural vision
- Lenses do not get fogged up
- Clearer vision than eyeglasses
Before we can get you fitted with contact lenses, we need to determine whether or not contacts are a good fit for you. Discover if contact lenses will work for you with a contact lens exam and fitting.
We offer rigid gas-permeable contacts as well as scleral contact lenses for hard-to-fit eyes. Scleral lenses can be an excellent option if traditional contact lenses aren’t compatible with your eyes due to issues like dry eye and keratoconus (irregular cornea).
Scleral contact lenses can help provide extra breathability and contain a fluid reservoir between your lens and cornea, which can help relieve dry eyes.

The Contact Lens Exam & Fitting
The Exam
A contact lens exam runs similarly to a comprehensive eye exam. While contact lenses aren’t for everyone, we take extra care to determine your ocular health and if your eyes are suitable for contact lenses. There are many different contact lenses, and our team will help find the best fit for you.
The Fitting
We take a series of measurements of your eyes to properly fit your new contacts. Improperly fitted contacts can cause discomfort, blurred vision, or even damage to your eyes. During your contact lenses fitting, Dr. Finlay will:
- Measure your corneal curvature with a keratometer
- Measure your pupil and iris
- Evaluate your tear film to determine your tear production ability
Your contacts need proper maintenance to last, so we will give you instructions for cleaning and handling your new lenses. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for lens care, and our instructions are tailored for your unique needs.
The Follow-Up
After your initial fitting, we’ll book a follow-up appointment to discuss your new contact lenses to see how well they fit and if they’re providing you with clear vision. At this point, we can make some adjustments if you aren’t satisfied. It can take a few tries to find the right fit for your contact lenses.
